Kristine contacted me and said, “I don’t know what I want and I don’t know what I need,” but she knew that she wanted a great website. Rather than be daunted by that very open-ended statement, I spent some time talking with her to better understand what lead her to contact me, and how I could help her figure out next steps. She’s getting ready to publish a book, and needed to build a book platform to support that, but she also does consulting work related to her writing topic. Once we established a framework for the site that would support both a book and her publishing efforts, Kristine was able to identify what consulting offerings would best support her existing & prospective clients, and how to create great content that they could easily find by Googling those topics. Kristine was eager to understand the hows & whys of my suggestions and implementation, which will allow her to do a great job maintaining and adding to her site herself over time as her business evolves using a similar methodology.
Her site is warm & welcoming, but still fresh & professional, and designed so that she can easily add to it and adjust it over time as her business & publishing career evolves.
I spent a few weeks speaking with prospective web designers, trying to determine who was right for me. I had yet to narrow down which of my many ideas I wanted to implement, so I didn’t feel entirely ready, but after I spoke to Kate, I knew she was the one for me. I signed with her before I was ready too, given I felt I just had to go with her.
Kate was fantastic at helping me organize my site ideas, giving suggestions, teaching me about some best practices, and generally fantastic to work with. She was timely, clear, explained things, justified why she thought I might want to consider something, and I just get the sense that I would really like her if I met her in person.
I should also mention that I am super-satisfied with the end result because before I signed with her, I wasn’t sure if Kate would be able to handle my project well. I had about half a book written, and was offering services on my website that were different from her other clients’ sites. But I decided that someone’s skills and vision are maybe more important than if they have prior similar clients. I think my website confirms that my decision was the right one; Kate is Great! – Kristine Anthis, Ph.D.
